Terminology in Complementary and Alternative Health
A paper prepared for the Ministerial Advisory Committee
on Complementary and Alternative Health
Date of publication: November 2002
This terminology paper outlines the terms and
definitions that the Ministerial Advisory Committee on Complementary
and Alternative Health (MACCAH) will be using for the purposes of its
work. The paper explains the terminology that MACCAH has decided to
use when talking about both complementary and conventional forms of
health care. It lists some of the therapies included within MACCAH’s
definition of "complementary and alternative medicine", and
outlines the model that MACCAH has developed to categorise such
therapies.
