The Committee was disestablished on 7 July 2006. Before then, statutory registering bodies needed to make an application to the New Prescribers Advisory Committee (NPAC) should they wish to seek limited independent prescribing authority for the health practitioners registered by them.
NPAC met to assess applications. More information on the outcomes of the meetings are provided in the confirmed minutes of the meetings.
Future applications for the extension of prescribing rights should be made in the first instance to the Ministry of Health. A process to assess the appropriateness of an extension of prescribing rights will be determined upon receipt of an application.
